Last Time for Everything

Today I heard the song Last Time for Everything by Brad Paisley. It got me thinking about all of the things that I have done and never realized it would be the last time I did it. If I would have known that this was the last time, would I have changed anything? For some of these, not at all. For others, I would absolutely change some things!

Here is the list that I came up with. What are some of the things that you didn’t realize you did for the last time?

Downloading a song straight to the computer.

Burning a CD with a random mix of songs.

Listening to a CD.

Eating a meal with just my parents and brother before he got married and had a family.

Watching my favorite baseball player on the field.

Driving around town with my best friend from high school.

Celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas at my grandparents house.

Eating dinner at Mr. Burger with family friends.

Having conversations with people that are no longer around to talk to.

  1. What a great idea. I love it when writing “prompts” come at us like this, so thanks for sharing the origins of this one. I’ll have to think about it and try it myself.

  2. Such a poignant idea! I remember seeing a poem floating around social media while ago about the last times as a mom you don’t realize (like carrying your kid to bed, etc), and it hit me deeply, as does this post. So often, we just assume there will be more times to do something, but life changes so fast.
